Prospects for a Perl developer in foreign freelance?
Hello.
At my current job, I studied Perl quite well, that year I tried to write small scripts and parsers on weblancer, but this year I realized that I needed to benefit from the high dollar rate and start earning money on foreign exchanges. I chose Odesk as the exchange, at the moment I am fulfilling one order, but by the number of tasks specifically for Perl developers, I can’t say that there is a lot of work. In principle, there are many more tasks from the Scripting category, but tasks for writing parsers for which there is a crowd of Indians with a rate of $ 5 per hour and below prevail there. In Perl, I also have my own little web service, i.e. I am a little familiar with the web, but I don’t want to go completely into it, because. I don't digest all these CSS and jQuery. I would like some more or less large projects, and not writing regular parsers, grabbers, etc.
In general, it is interesting to know the opinion of Perl developers - what is the current situation on the market in general, is there a job (preferably well paid), and what are the prospects for the future? Perl doubters may also make suggestions to move to Python, RoR, etc. :)

the
article is really good.
On Habré there was not so long ago a comprehensive article about pearl and a very complete overview of the places of work with pearl was made there. This article fully answers your question, search on Habré for the word pearl sort by time, look at a dozen other pages just in case.
