Possible ways to display graphics?

Is it possible to output an image directly to the display using the BIOS without drawing it pixel by pixel?

You mean .jpeg, .png, .gif? It is forbidden. If we are talking about direct access to the video buffer, then it is 0xA000:0x0000 represented as an array of RGB structures.
