Popup window when changing the route (Detailed question inside)?

There is such a task. For example, the user is located at /main and goes to the /about page. I need to be able to track that the user leaves the page and a pop-up window pops up with the question "If you go, then the entered data will be lost." If he presses "Yes", then we leave accordingly, if "No", then we return. I'm looking for how to do this, through history, location, but I can't figure out how to implement it.
