Play recording in arduino without memory card?

In general, we have several messages and we need the robot to be able to pronounce them, but we are now in the field and there is no time to wait until the mule with modules arrives, is it possible to come up with something alternative? We have a memory card. There was an idea to take a board from an old player, try to fix it and connect it to an arduino, but maybe there are some more or less options with the board itself?

If the arduino is based on atmega32, then something worthwhile without a memory card will not work.
In general, PWM modulation can be used. Set a sixteen-bit timer to the desired bitrate, and use one of the eight-bit timers for PWM. Well, hang an RC chain on the OC output of the timer and drive sound from it to a concert amplifier :)
