Open the file with for example search.cpan.org/~jenda/Win32-FileOp-0.16.02/FileOp.pm
Determine its size, divide by x pieces of your progress bar and get the SIZE size for your progress bar
Start reading line by line, determining the length of each read line and displaying it in the field using perl-win32-gui.sourceforge.net/cgi-bin/docs.cgi?do...
As you count SIZE bytes, draw the wand in the progress bar, and so on until everything is calculated .
