Outlook 2016 Mac + Gmail with two-factor authentication, how to connect?

I have a Gmail account with two-factor authentication.
Works fine on all devices.
In Outlook 2016 I add a new account, all settings are loaded automatically (all correct, checked). I enter the correct password. In theory, it should be possible to enter a code from SMS to connect a new device, but nothing happens, it gives an error (different from the error with the wrong password, I checked it).

Does anyone have any suggestions how to treat this? Google didn't help

and passwords for applications do not work here?
