Organization of photo storage - your drive or photo hosting?

Over the years of using the SLR, about 200 gigs of photos were formed. The most unpleasant thing is that they are scattered among three computers, a bunch of flash drives, etc.

I decided to systematize everything in one place and decided to buy an external hard drive, terabyte for 2, in order to store pictures and pull movies, etc., to have local access to the docks. The question arose of how to make this storage standalone in order to avoid the always-on desktop, as well as how to look at photos on available devices (computers under Windows, an iPad, potentially a TV). And with what software to view, sort and perform other simple actions.

On the other hand, maybe the 200 bucks needed to buy hard + ??? bucks for a media server, spend on hosting the same photos, and then I'll get the opportunity to operate them from anywhere at all? Tell me the services (I'm only familiar with Picasso), as well as the pitfalls that can await me when choosing one or another option.

I'm using Synology Disk Station with 2 x 2TB drives in RAID1.

NAS recommended. I would add to it synchronization with photo hosting (all, or favorites).

You do not need access from anywhere in the world, but only within your home? then the NAS and only it ... but $ 200 is not enough /
Even the cheapest NAS for one disk costs from 3.5 thousand rubles, ... but in this case I would assemble something of my own on a mini-itx board, a cheap PSU and the first case (at least self-assembly) with cooling from one 120mm cooler. I get about 2t.r. (1.5t.r.-1.7t.r. motherboard with a processor + 0.25t.r.-0.5t.r. RAM + 0.4t.r. ATX power supply or case with PSU from 1.5t.r.) for those money is a much more functional unit.

half of modern wifi routers are running some kind of Linux thread with a bunch of usb ports. samba/ftp/nfs access is enabled from the webmoney.
again some kind of boxed NAS.
cloud storage, as experience has shown ex.ua, ovi and someone else there, can stop at one moment.
