OpenSource CMS as a program (not as a Web application)
Maybe someone came across CMS in the form of a program? Those. when there is no admin panel on the site, only interfaces for adding / deleting a page / file, getting page lists. And content editing takes place with the help of a convenient program.
The only thing I found is Windows Live Writer. It is very convenient, 10 times more convenient than editing in the browser. But it is only suitable for editing blogs - not a full-fledged CMS (the main thing that is missing is the page hierarchy).

This CMS is Dreamweaver. You start a project, create lists of pages, edit back and forth, update a copy on FTP. True, it is not open source. However, the Windows Live Writer you found, too.
Not quite what you need, but it looks like .
A separate program is installed on the computer and everything is done through it. But I didn't know much about it, so I can't be specific.
What site do you want to manage? Existing? Is it static or does it work with server technologies? On the engine?
Or should the site be created from this desktop CMS?
A creative idea for people who are used to doing business, but it does not require knowledge of web development.
Sometimes you can configure and edit information through the program than you need a web interface for this.
In this case, there is a project for success, for the creation of such a CMS
Apple iWeb ;-)
In general, Bolk made a diary for himself, which is controlled via the LJ interface, so you can write to it with any LJ client, I think there are Opensource implementations of such an idea in nature7
