OpenCart or Woocommerce in 2018?
Hello.
I know there have been similar questions. But they are more than half a year old.
Maybe something has changed in this matter. There is a question about creating a simple online store. Goods to start ~500. Further 1500+ are planned. But the site is needed more as a showcase and a catalog. Since the buyer will first come to the store.
Sam poked both OC and WC. The first seems more serious, the second seems much friendlier. Would love to hear your feedback!!! Maybe there is something else good?

WooCommerce is #1 on the market in the world. Not yet in Russia. But more and more plugins appear for Russian payment and delivery systems. The most popular ones can already be found.
Plus - easy to use, gives you all the benefits of WordPress including various SEO plugins. Flexible in development with one but...
Minus - development on it is worth doing if there are big budgets for expensive programmers. Juniors and middles may not be able to cope with his hook system. You need to be able to read source codes and understand the architecture of hooks. Most programmers are not good at this. However, if you manage to find a good programmer, then the flexibility there is colossal. You can implement any idea without breaking the core and without losing the ability to update.
Recommendation - if the budget is less than 1 million rubles per month, then take the theme of Storefront, set up typical mechanics. Get a modern, convenient, adaptive store at no significant cost. Thinking up something, calling programmers, sawing some kind of fantasies makes sense only if you have a budget of 1 million rubles / month and more.
If only a store with payment through the site and you need fast, of course Opencart. If you only need a catalog, without the possibility of buying on the site, then this is solved by regular means, without installing Woocommerce.
As a last resort - magenta Basic option - static files based on your price list, collected automatically by
the opencart
assembler
code quality
is widespread -
no one regularly rolls bad bug fixes (and sometimes they don't exist at all)
a bunch of null scripts with viruses
a huge amount of tools for auto-hacking
wordpress
widely
better code quality is common
bug fixes no one rolls
the same problems with scripts with viruses
orge number of scripts for auto-hacking
Just run the store on WP / OC and work - it won't work
WooCommerce - add-on to WordPress
You can add delivery and orders; adding products and categories, tags, attributes, managing comments is convenient. there are over 60 free plugins and about 10 free themes, and it's a bit simpler than OpenCart. Although my friend is now launching an online toy store, the assortment is about the same as yours, he does it on opencart, he is very pleased. He studies at the Academy of Internet Business, it seems that the curators advised him there, you can also ask a question.
