Open world or locations?
What is better for the game - open world or locations?
Goal - I want to learn how to work with Unity, try to make a 3D FPS, if it works out - go to COOP. But even without mentioning the engine, the genre and my "skills" - what are the advantages of the open world, and what are the locations?

Open world:
- harder to develop due to performance issues
- harder to game design, because it will be necessary to direct the player and provide him with a sufficient density of points of interest (enemies, side quests) and take measures so that he cannot get where he doesn’t need to be ahead of time
Locations:
+ easier with performance
+ easier with game design, the developer always knows where the player is , and small maps are easier to perfect one after another
- if the levels are too small and simple, then a feeling of "corridor", "rail" is created
