Open-source project of an analytical platform?

I'm thinking of rewriting a small utility into a public analytics platform ( clarification: Collect data from multiple sites and display this data in graphs and tables). For my personal use, the utility showed itself well.
It is clear that the first version will most likely be written on the knee from the prototype that has already been written. But in my head I want to have a certain picture of where to strive ... mongodb, memcached, d3.js
Perhaps there are some open source platforms? Ruby is preferred, but not essential. I would like to "spy" on the architecture of several projects, understand the pros and cons, maybe run tests...

Could you clarify what you mean by "public analytics platform". It's not entirely clear what you mean.

What types of data are you going to collect? To what extent? How are you going to visualize all this (dynamically form or only display graphs)?
Your system requirements are too vague.

I also have a project on my knee, but it fits your description - Habr's data visualization:
www.habr-analytics.com
described in the articles:
habrahabr.ru/post/228015
habrahabr.ru/post/230003
there are also links to git and a description of the architecture
(spoiler: the author is not exactly a programmer and writes in python as best he can, although he tries to "grow above himself")
