And do I understand correctly that the SCJP has already been completely abolished?

Yes, you must first obtain an Associate. And then Professional.
The cost of the exam depends on the country and where you buy it. It is better to take the exam directly from Person VUE / Prometric. When I borrowed directly from Oracle I had to do a bank transfer and I still paid more. When I paid through Prometric, I paid through a card.
I would say that this is not the worst thing that Oracle did with certification, if, for example, you look at the requirements for an Architect, you need to take one of the courses, the average price of which is now around 52,000 rubles ...
