On what form to display tiles from the map?

Tell me, on what form to build the output of the map, divided into tiles of 256x256 pixels each?
There is an idea to do a bunch of pictureBox.
Maybe there is a better way?

picturebox will be slow, it's better to google glgdi and draw with vidyuhi, there are no differences in terms of code,
