On the issue of copyright music VKontakte

I live in the USA. There is an excellent Pandora internet radio here. Often I hear something really original and interesting, I immediately look for it in the search and add it to my VKontakte audio recordings (in fact, for this reason I keep an account there).

In this regard, a number of questions arose:

  • What is the legal status of music found on VKontakte music?
  • Is adding (not uploading, namely adding) someone else's music to your playlist considered an act of piracy?
  • Who is responsible in this case for the placement of illegal content, if the copyright holders are in the USA, and the servers are in the Russian Federation?
  • What can be fraught with in the US illegal malicious and systematic listening to music from VKontakte?
  • Have they already followed me?

I would like to hear the opinion of competent lawyers.

I'm not sure how the situation will be true for the US, but Yandex has a Yandex.Music service, where you can already find a lot and, as they assure, everything is 100% legal. In other words, the authors get something from this.
I can't imagine how this (payment to the authors) happens, but I use the service and am very pleased.
The only thing that is perhaps still upsetting is not a very convenient management interface, but it is being improved and I see positive changes.
So I suggest you take a look at it.

Copy-paste:

According to experts from the Recording Association of America (RIAA), the VKontakte social network is one of the largest pirate sites in the world.
It is also mentioned here , in the Download/streaming section .
