Nothing happens when I try to launch VS Code via terminal, how do I fix the problem?

I say right away: I recently installed Linux (or rather Mint), I sort of figured it out, so I can say that I'm still a beginner ...

I recently installed XAMPP so as not to suffer with the server and FileZilla. And I very often (always) use VS Code, because. when I put some other software like this one, I have a certain "adaptation" to this software for a long time. And since the XAMPP folders were not in such folders like Documents or the user's directory in general, but in the /opt/lampp/ system directory , it is clear that normally VS Code will not be able to create files, delete or modify them.

I realized what the problem was only after 15 minutes, and then with the help of the Internet, and realized that I needed to run VS Code as root.

I used this question:https://stackoverflow.com/questions/38938887/how-t...

But when I enter a command into the terminal, the first time it just asks for a password, and then nothing happens. I just enter, and there is no answer.

What to do?

I realized what the problem was only after 15 minutes, and then with the help of the Internet, and realized that I needed to run VS Code as root.

Now forget this nonsense and remember the most important rule - NEVER work as root.
XAMPP

And I didn’t notice the elephant right away. Forget the paradigm “I drag any shit from Windows into Linux”, just forget it. If you want a web server, then you need LAMP, there are many articles on the Internet about how to install it correctly. Its files will be in /var/www EMNIP, and there will be access without root.
