Notebook Acer 2gb OP, costs Ubuntu and eternal problems with it, robotics is interesting, what OS will advise for replacement?

I’m very used to Ubuntu 14.04 (just like Russian cars, almost a day later I have problems), but I won’t switch to Windows, so I’m asking for advice on which OS is best to write programs and it will be more convenient (C / C ++ and similar languages) , in the future I wanted to use ArchLinux, but I think it's too early, I need something in between to learn how to code
Or maybe the problem is in the hardware?

I drive a domestic car, Ubuntu does not crash, I think the problem is growing from another place.

Or maybe a hardware problem?
Definitely, the hardware is weak, there is not enough RAM even for a browser.
I advise you to either change the hardware, or use a less demanding OS (Windows).
