Nginx uses 100% CPU

Hello,
Unfortunately, I understand little in administration, but the problem needs to be solved now. Actually the essence:
There is a VPS: cpu 4 cores at 3500 MHz and 4g of memory, isp panel
Quite a lot of domains with static content.
When there were 50-60k hits per day, the server coped, but now there is more traffic and in the VDS manager during rush hour, I see that nginx loads the processor by 100%, and error 502 flashes on the sites
. Tell me what steps can be taken at the moment.
Thanks in advance for your help and understanding.

@Fandorin

Are you sure it is nginx that is eating all the memory? What are you using as back end? What application server?

gzip, most likely, eats. More than nginx in the standard configuration, there is nothing corny to eat the processor. Lower the compression ratio.
Well, or you have written such rewrites there that nginx has to think in order to open them.
