New firmware not loading on HTC Desire S?

I decided to reflash my flashlight. I am doing this for the first time.
I unlocked it, organized root, uploaded ClockWork Recovery 5.0.2.0 (but TWPR did not work).
I do wipe dalvik cache, wipe cache partition, wipe data / factory reset.
I install the firmware - everything is successful, install complete.
I reboot - silence, only the letters HTC on a white background.
Waited 10 minutes - no change. The device does not heat up.
What could be the problem and how to pinpoint it?
So far I've tried two firmware: aokp_jellybean and JellyTime_CM10_Saga_R17.1.

@StopDesign

either something was done wrong in the first steps, or the kernel does not fit the firmware, and there are actually a lot of options
