Machine translation from one language to another

My plugin and theme translations are crashing in Loco Translate after the update - how can I make sure everything is saved?

A WordPress theme and special plugins for it are installed, which it is desirable to keep up to date, i.e. update!
Translation of the theme and plugins is done through the Loco Translate plugin .
After updating the theme and plugin, translations crash - how to deal with this?

I wanted a paid theme for my blog. The vendor on the site indicated that it gives a free license for a year for translation. I made a translation into Russian and it was included in the free version of the theme, and I received my one-year license
. I suppose if you send your translation to the vendor, then most likely they will include it in the distro and then there will be no problems with updates

If through Loco Translate, then there is the possibility of saving translation files to the system folder, which is also not an ideal solution, but when the plugin or theme is updated, the translations do not crash. Didn't check, but there is a suspicion that translations may fail when updating the VP itself

I solved the issue by simply copying the translation file to Loco and specifying a new location for it in the loco folder - it turns out that Loco Translate connects its translation files in preferential mode. It worked for my plugins, plugin update - didn't break the translation, but didn't check it with the theme - but I think it's the same "song" )

As an option, set permissions to 444 on the translation files, that is, prohibit writing to them.
You can also completely disable automatic updating of translations for all plugins and the VI itself by adding code to the function file
In general, we read what the plugin authors themselves write in the FAQ on this issue.
