MS Visio analogues for creating illustrations, diagrams, etc. in articles about programming?

Hello.
Please advise paid and free analogues of MS Visio for creating beautiful illustrations, process diagrams, etc. for use in articles about programming on the site (not in print)?

Alternatively, a program created just like the one you are looking for - OpenOffice / LibreOffice Draw
Some Google diagrams (and a bunch of all sorts of additions to Google docs).
All sorts of mind... diagrams/maps.
In general, if you specify what kind of diagrams and illustrations are needed (because many programs are "tailored" for some "specific" diagrams), you will probably be able to specify more options.
