MonoDevelop how to install version 5.9 on Ubuntu 14.04?
Good afternoon, dear Linux gurus I'm trying to install a fresher version of MonoDevelop on Ubuntu 14.04. From the application center it was possible to deliver only 4.02. I ran the commands that were indicated on the page www.mono-project.com/docs/getting-started/install/... but after that the same version 4.02 is visible from the repositories

I will assume that the most correct option here is to build both Mono and MonoDevelop from the sources (if my memory serves me, the Mono 14.04 repository is quite ancient).
The assembly of Mono is described here or here .
Instructions for installing MonoDevelop - for example, here , I think it will work for 5.x as well. Here is another instruction for 14.04.
From myself I will add that instead it is make install
better to use checkinstall .
