I really liked yii-framework . It's not as monstrous as Zend, but it's very well written.

Definitely worth downloading the most famous frameworks and see, they are open and usually written very well =) I think this is the best option

dev.lithify.me/lithium is very interesting . All features of php5.3 are used (including namespaces, an interesting implementation of class links). In general, more interesting than a lot of reading. By the way, this product is from one of the creators of MongoDB
