Missing GUI (gnome) on debian?
Hello. I am a novice Linux user (tried different ones but not for long).
Decided to install Debian. Installed, started installing software. At some point, the GUI stopped responding, did not respond to button presses. Only lok was available. After the lock, it was impossible to enter anything in the password field. Below it: authentication error.
Did ctrl+alt+f2 -> reboot.
After restarting the GUI does not open.
I tried to reinstall gnome -> Could not resolve host: deb.debian.org
Disabled IPv6 and registered Google DNS. Did not help.
PS The problem is the second time in a day. After the first just reinstalled the system.

In general, I killed the weekend for this business ...
As a result, I installed Fedora.
Most likely due to the fact that Gnome does not start, NewtworkManager does not start either.
Therefore, there is no internet. And for fixing dependencies, it is clearly needed.
To do this, you will have to disable NetworkManager (just in case)
After that, configure the network manually. It may be different for different distributions, so you have to google here. (e.g. Ubuntu 20.04 network setup in the console)
But on debian
vi /etc/network/interfaces #Switch to edit mode i exit editing esc
here you will need to make or correct the settings. Don't forget to change ens2 to your network interface name, and accordingly the addresses themselves.
iface ens2 inet static
address 192.168.1.200
network 192.168.1.0
netmask 255.255.255.0
broadcast 192.168.1.255
gateway 192.168.1.1
dns-nameservers 192.168.1.1
After that exit editing and press :wq This save and exit.
systemctl restart networking # restarting network services to pick up
ip a settings #here we will see if the settings have been applied
apt install --fix-broken
Try reinstalling gnome. He is fragile, I work with him - it should help ... Probably
