I want to write a small client for VK purely for communication. Faced with a trace. problems:
1. Separation of chats from dialogues (they come together)
2. Instant message receipt
Who faced or knows how to solve, please explain.

well, yes, the getDialogs method returns messages from both chats and dialogs.
But you can sort, because the chat also comes with the chat_id parameter.
So if chat_id came, it means chat, there is no parameter - it means dialogue
