Memcached crashes on ddos?

With ddos, memcached loads cpu 100% by 90% -100%, access to sessions is lost.
The rest of the services are doing just fine! the only problem with memcache is that even after ddos it does not stabilize, you have to restart it manually. Of course, you can hang up his control on the supervisord and in the case of such a reboot, but this is not the case since all sessions are lost.
Only sessions are stored in the memcache.
Config:

PORT=0
USER="memcached"
MAXCONN="32768"
CACHESIZE="4096"
OPTIONS="-L -t 8 -a 0766 -s /var/run/memcached/memcached.sock"

Perhaps someone faced such a problem? Very much it would not be desirable to hold sessions in other storage.
