MAX7219 + Arduino How to connect correctly?

Hello.
I connect max7219 to a 7 segment 4 digital indicator OK
Everything seems to be fine, but! empirically it turns out that if the max7219 pins are connected to the ground of the arduino, then the screen does not show anything, it twitches a little and stops glowing at all.
At first I connected it without a conder, then I put the conder in parallel + - at 100nF All the same
, after a minute it stops showing the screen.
I use this circuit and the sketch at the end which tronixstuff.com/2013/10/11/tutorial-arduino-max721...
Help me understand what I'm doing wrong.
Once again - the numbers are running, everything seems to be connected correctly. Conder is 100nF, resistance is 10k,
the problem is that if you put pins 4 and 9 on the ground, then everything disappears. It also works extremely unstable - characters stop displaying after 1-2 minutes of operation

@romanvl

Miraculously, everything worked by itself (I added a 20k resistor in series, it worked with a total of 30k) In general, I reassembled the circuit a couple of times - maybe my eyes were really blurry and I didn’t see a short somewhere.
