Start with Cooper's "Escape from the Asylum". This is the simplest and most understandable book. And, most importantly, it will set your thinking in the right direction. After it, you will begin to look at the interfaces of programs and devices with a different look. Then you can read Ruskin (a book with a steering wheel on the cover). There is also Cooper's book "On the Interface", but it is thick and a bit boring (because it is very detailed). What's next, I don't know.
