Marketing from scratch for a startup. Where to begin?

Tell me worthwhile sites, services, courses, where a techie can quickly delve into marketing in order to start up and start at least slowly moving towards potential customers - so to speak, in order to skim those cream/sales that are at the top and pass marketing on in the hands of a professional.

First, you need to understand what you mean by the magic word - marketing.
Quote: "in order to take off those cream / sales that are at the top" - this is exactly what the gurus do, and at the start there is usually a reverse trend - collecting crumbs at the foot, and that's where experience is gained, but I deviated.
Where to begin.
I would advise, if you have not delved into this economic discipline at all, to start with a superficial acquaintance with books, of which there are a lot. There is simply an opinion that you can comprehend "Zen" by sitting on thematic forums, etc., but this is not so. There are either already specialists or those who consider themselves as such and do not bring much benefit, since they will be too lazy to explain in detail. We are talking about marketing.
And a practical lesson, while studying the theory, is to study your target audience, because marketing is based on it:
1. Define the target audience (wide range, N: b2b, b2c, just males)
2. Narrow down to a clear difference (N: a man from 20 to 25, employed, single)
3. Identify the range of needs (after all, marketing was created for this)
4. Determine which of them your product can satisfy.
And then there is strategic planning for achieving goals - this is how you will "reach out" to the target audience - advertising, affiliate programs, PR, word of mouth, virus, spam, etc. These questions already need to be mastered separately. There are a lot of options and tips on the net.
It turned out long and superficial, but nevertheless ...
I hope the answer will be useful to you!

The title of your question sounds like the title of an upcoming book.

Startup marketing is no different than any other marketing. In general, the business scheme is simple:
Marketing is needed to work at the 3rd stage, that is, you need to understand how best to reach out to your potential customers. For example, if your clients are IT people, then you need to contact them via the Internet. Next, look for information about a specific channel for contacting customers.
I think that it is very difficult to “get into it quickly” in order to get any significant result, if there is a sensible idea for a startup, look for a good seller and take him to the team.

The best service is your own experience. In other cases, there will be just general advice that will not help you much.
Launch your project and try to get money from it. For example, a content information site on some topic. It's not that expensive. True, you need to forget for a while that you are an IT specialist and do your usual routine work.

I would start with a market analysis. What area is your startup in?
Study the market, find out who your customers are. I advise you to read the book "Competitive Strategy" by Potter

Personally, it was most useful for me to study specific cases of specific projects.
For example, the case of Arkady Moreinis: www.youtube.com/watch?v=mIsz9AvSFwI

And start with the classics - with Trout for example. Internet marketing is just part of a large building based on classical knowledge.
