Macbook Pro 374 and SSD instead of DVD?

I decided the other day to change the drive I do not need to SSD. I read a little, googled and a couple of questions arose:

1) Is such an adapter suitable?
Those. are they the same for 13", 15", 17" models? It says that Apple MACBOOK /MACBOOK PRO models that has a 9.5mm-high SuperDrive with SATA interface are supported . How can I find out how many inches the superdrive costs and is it sata?

2) I think that a 40GB SSD is enough for a lion, photoshop, code, xcode and the rest of the little things. Which model do you recommend?

3) How will things be with the battery, will the battery life decrease?

Thanks for the advice, I hope it will help not only me.

Which Macbook do you have? Until 2009, there were IDE drives, in unibody cases - SATA.
OCZ seems to be considered quite good. There, in fact, there will not be so many options (for example, OCZ Vertex).
Such an adapter is generally called optibay among the people, you can google it.
SSD drives have a slightly lower power consumption, so the battery life will not deteriorate.
It is better to put the HDD in place - SDD, and in place of the drive - your HDD.

1. They are the same, but before Unibody they were PATA, Unibody was SATA. There is no more difference.
2. I also thought that 40 was enough. Alas. Now it costs 96GB.
3. Practically will not change.

40 gigs is not enough - 100%
64 is the best option, I have 54 gigs. the only thing I have is a white macbook, not a pro.

2. Keep in mind that you need to keep at least 15-20% free, otherwise active recording starts in the same cells, performance decreases and the disk resource decreases. Therefore, start from 64 GB, but better from 120 GB.
3. In terms of battery life, I compared different options: theapplegeek.ru/archives/5096
When you connect a second drive, in the worst case, 25% of the battery life is lost, and in the best - 15%. When replacing the standard HDD with an SSD, the time improved by only 5 minutes. This concerned the Intel X25m g2 160 GB, tested on video playback, in normal mode, the battery life will be better.
Now for Mac mini server 2011 I took OCZ Vertex 3 240 GB, installed it today. But killed 8 hours for everything. Feature - you need to put the disk directly into the computer on a SATA cable, there are problems with USB.
