Looking for good books on web development!

Hello! I am very interested in the topic of web development, and I want to find books on this topic. Right from the very beginning - HTML and CSS to creating powerful web applications.
Thanks in advance for your help!
PS If possible, refer to e-books, although interesting paper ones will also have to be bought if there is no alternative.

For CSS, I recommend reading Eric Meyer - " CSS - Cascading Style Sheets "

As a reference (x)html / css / js / etc. would recommend developer.mozilla.org/en-US/ . There is also in Russian (and in other languages) - developer.mozilla.org/ru , but there are mostly translations and far from all the material.

Do not look for something like "how to learn ... in a month / week / year."
Pick up a couple of books recommended by people in the know, choose the best method of presenting information for you.
But don't just read the book.
The best thing is to practice, and as much as possible. Write, write, write code. The more practice, the more questions will arise, the answers to which you can find in a search engine or in books.
Remember that the best result is achieved in practice! That's right, you will come across many things that are sometimes omitted from the books.
Good luck.

My favorite book is Agile Web Application Development with Rails

Even if you are not going to write in Rails, the approaches described in the book will haunt you for the rest of your career :)
