Looking for clients by calling?

The question is actually simple, if you collect a database of companies or firms in your city and call with an offer of your web design services, redesign of their site (If it is very old or bad)
Is it an adequate option in our time?
Since everyone is used to talking about freelance exchanges

Customers are interested in sales, not design.
If you offer them guaranteed sales for an acceptable budget, then you might be hooked.
As for me, these are dead clients.

This is a different channel than freelance exchanges. This way you will find those clients who do not use freelancing. In my subjective opinion, calling on such a base is justified only for large companies. You need to have several people on call, 1 for a manager who processes those who did not send to ....., and a programmer (cheap, maybe a couple, maybe with a designer) who makes 2-3 sites a day on wp. The conveyor is like that. Since the clients will be specific, as a rule these are the ones. who peck at the cost. So they will have to do a new go..but instead of the old. There will probably be exceptions to the rules from time to time, for this you need to have 1-2 smart freelancers with a long stack on your phone. So that they rivet non-template projects for good money. Within the framework of 1 person, I think this is not the right idea.

Depends on your sales skills. Nowadays, advertising is everywhere and when you make a phone call, the protective mode is turned on - send a commercial offer by mail.

If your ringers are able to reach the decision maker (decision makers), then maybe something will work out. Most likely, everything will end at the level of the secretary.

Well, it was rightly said above. Calls are a separate technology. First you need to find the right person on the client side, who really decides, quickly assess if he is interested in at least something and blow to him, sell his services (quick survey-finding out needs, presentation of his services, individual offer) There are some basic courses - manuals, but for someone it goes easy, someone is talkative by nature, a sucker, etc. but they don’t take it from someone, and that’s it, even if you walk on your head. If there is a successful person who will smile, including into the phone, all the same as the radiant sun, then he does not care what to sell. And if there is no good salesperson, then there are no customers. I have been a sales manager for a long time. I don’t rush, but I saw very successful ones, in which people seem to want to give large sums of money themselves every month.
As for finding the right person (decision maker), I would try to load the secretaries with incomprehensible words. What is the conversion rate on the site, how optimized and promoted is it, is there online payment including delivery, and something like that. I didn’t name a buzzword here, except for the conversion, but they need to be more chatty so that the girl says I don’t understand and you ask if there is a person who does this. This is if the site exists.
