Looking for a free OCR library for java, or an algorithm

There are 2 tasks:
1) to recognize the text, printed font (little noise).
2) determine the most similar image from the list of available
ones. Are there any ready-made solutions, or do you need links to algorithms, ideas?

A smart algorithm is desirable.

Many thanks for future help.

I remember that Cuneiform OCR was released in open source. Judging by the site (openocr.org), the project has stopped in development, and of course there are no Java versions, but I think that if you wish, you can rivet a call to the native library. Not too cross-platform, but still.
