Linux: why such ugly fonts?

Good evening. I switched to Linux, before that I tried several distributions and everywhere the fonts are thin and either blurry or ripple, well, of course, after Windows there is such a feeling. I found articles on the Internet with different programs, but for some reason I had doubts about what I read.
Those who know and have experienced this, tell me where to dig to set up beautiful fonts on Linux.

They are ugly for some reason. They are bad from birth. Unfortunately. Therefore, the first thing I always do is set Windows TTFs - in calculate it's media-fonts/corefonts, in FreeBSD it's webfonts for some reason :) and only then the dance with the settings begins...
