Linux for old PC in 2021?

Recommend a stable (lightweight, resource-intensive) distribution for this hardware:

  • AMD Athlon(tm) II X2 245 Processor - 2.90GHz
  • DDR2-6GB
  • NVIDIA GeForce GTS 250

The main thing for me is that VSCODE works without brakes, as well as Steam > Dota2.

Installed Ubuntu 20.04, Dota2 won't start.

Your computer, although old, is quite productive. Absolutely any modern distribution kit will suit you.

There is also an .iso file for testing.

In principle, the list has not changed.
Ubuntu Mate, Xubuntu, Lubuntu, Arch/Manjaro (on xfce), Peppermint
In principle, if you need it for the sake of games, you can go head and install SteamOS (wait for 3.0)
But I wouldn’t hope for DotA to work, because although this setup corresponds minimum requirements, but they have not changed since 2013, and a lot has changed since then.
