Linking a domain to a project on heroku?

How to bind a domain so that at a request like www.example.com - it's clear, I can't figure out how to bind to the root.
@ CNAME example.com cannot be tied, what should I take? IP that gives nslookup heroku.com?

My recipe is to host the domain on Cloudflare and then link it as an alias to the third level domain that is given to Herok. And do not forget to specify this domain in the heroku panel.
