Limitations of software RAID 1?

Are there any system requirements restrictions for software raid?
I understand that this is why it is software, not hardware, but the whole task falls on the processor (I assume), because. the raid controller is not involved in this. Hence the question: are there any minimum system requirements?
Only RAID 1 is needed.

The operation of smearing data on the mirror is not resource-intensive, especially when it comes to mechanical disks. Half-dead NAS successfully cope with this.
For modern systems, this load can be neglected.
