Learning Python from scratch, Codeacademy: what do you recommend?

Hello! :)
I decided to learn Python, but the fact is that I have never done programming before, and I don’t even have basic knowledge about this. What was in the first year in VB does not even make sense to consider.
Well, yesterday I found a site, Codeacademy, started taking a course on python there, now at the very beginning) And I would like to know opinions, does it make sense to spend time on this site, maybe there are some more productive options? If it is, then maybe you need to study some books? Tell me please :)

Codeacademy - worth it. Good course. Although I have only one example: my friend (a techie, but not a programmer at all), recently completed training there. After 3 months of irregular classes, he already programs quite decently. And then books.

Are you only considering the free option?

Codecademy is just the beginning. The conditions for completing tasks there are quite democratic, several times I came across a situation where a code with an unambiguous error was counted as a correct solution.
On Coursera.org March 24, the course "Introduction to Interactive Python Programming" starts, 9 weeks, 7-10 hours a week for study, I think, can be allocated. Connect! https://www.coursera.org/course/interactivepython

Out of my head: there is also a Python course on LearnStreet
https://www.learnstreet.com/lessons/study/python
Similar to Codecademy, but LearnStreet also has practical tasks to consolidate the theory.

Soon (November 10) a free Russian-language online Python course will begin: https://stepic.org/course/67. For a very beginner level.

The question is old, but the topic is still relevant for someone.
So.
I would recommend starting with the free Python Tutor , SoloLearn or CheckiO .
And then come join us for Python Basics , it's free too. Understand what to do next.
