Learning C in a similar way?

Good afternoon. I won't get straight to the point. Inspired by the article Learning C with Gdb . The fact is that now I am learning C by reading Pratt's book, the volume of information is large, and the exercises at the end of the book are boring and the topic is not disclosed, as it seems to me. Well, they are very artificial. So, will this method of learning C be effective, through a debugger and assembler, and inhuman complexity, but obviously with great interest and enthusiasm. Or through force to make far-fetched examples in a spherical vacuum from a textbook? This is not my first language, but I didn’t deal with low-level languages before, that’s why I’m asking about teaching such languages.

Well, you certainly need to know gdb - it will come in handy more than once :) If you don't like someone else's examples - well, come up with your own :)
