Layout of the desktop version with subsequent refinement to adaptive. Brad or quite real?

I'm probably the first contender to win in the nomination "The most stupid question", but...
We want an adaptive layout, but for now we only have a design for the desktop.
There is trouble with the mobile and tablet versions, total bad luck with the designers.
Question: is it possible to make a desktop version now, and then work it up to an adaptive one, when we finally draw it?
Or even after the launch of the site ...
Please do not throw stones. Help me please.

Well, before typesetting, it’s better to first tear off the designer’s hands, bring the layout to mind, and then, as Pavel Anpleenko said , it’s not a problem to adapt to mobile devices.

Yes, what exactly is the problem?

Can. But it is more difficult than if you thought over the location of the blocks in advance.

In general, if the grid and correctly make a destop version, then the problem will no longer be in adaptation.
If you use Bootstraty to layout, the layout itself will adapt to the size, the only thing you need to do is to finish the jambs if they are with display.

Many people do this because the customer often thinks about desktops first, and then about everything else.
Practice shows that, of course, it’s easier to immediately make it adaptive, or start with a mobile layout, but life makes adjustments.

Mobile first is a stupid buzzword, kill it in your brain

First of all, you need to answer the question of who are the current (planned) site visitors and from which devices most of the traffic comes.
If 98.9% are desktop users, then the issue of adapting to mobile can be postponed.
If the main traffic will (planned) come from mobile devices, then this is a top priority.
Mobile First is not a silly phrase, it carries a strategic vision for the future development of the web.
If you have created a desktop version, but nothing works with mobile versions for a long time - take a step back and look around: most likely the problem is in the early stages, even before the array is handed over to the layout.
