Layout for horizontal screen orientation - how?

I laid out my first site, adapted it using media queries, opened it on a mobile phone - everything is fine, but as soon as the mobile phone was turned horizontally, the content “floated”, and from the browser window to the body of the site there are white fields on the right and left. What can be done to make it look adequate in horizontal orientation?
