Launching Google Chrome with a registered key from another program?

Hello.
In one of the recent articles, more specifically, in this one, I read about such an optimization opportunity as Transferring application caches to RAMDisk.
With the help of Primo RamDisk , I created it, transferred the User Data folder to it from the Google Chrome I use, registered the --user-data-dir="X:\User Data" key in the browser shortcuts in the "object" field . I launched the application using the shortcut, followed links from other programs - the browser always opened with the key already registered, and the “User Data” folder was pulled from the RAM disk .
But now I have reinstalled the browser. And now I can not achieve the effect that was in any way. Actually:

  1. I'm setting up a browser.
  2. I prescribe the key in the shortcut on the taskbar and desktop.
  3. I set defaults in the control panel on Google Chrome.
  4. I launch the Google Chrome shortcut, go through the synchronization, set it up.
  5. For example, I'm trying to access an artist's page by clicking on a link in LastFM Scrobbler.
  6. The browser opens, but without the registered key. Actually, the folder from the RAM disk is not picked up, there are no synchronized files, a second Google Chrome shortcut appears on the taskbar.

Where am I doing wrong? More precisely, where should the key be written so that it is always applied ?
  • OS: Windows 8 Pro
  • Google Chrome: Version 25.0.1364.36 beta-m (Stable also)

@LIR

You can simply move the folder using a symlink:
