Laravel how to properly process images?

I wanted to ask Laravel developers - how to process images correctly? After all, I understand correctly that just changing the name and saving is wrong?
Do I need to check file permission, remove meta date from jpeg files, etc.? It's just that the documentation simply indicates the methods for saving and that's it.
