Laptop stopped loading linux from flash drive after bios update?
Background. On a freshly bought ThinkPad x100e, the archlinux installer formatted the partitions with win7 and recovery. Later, a recovery disk image for the S12 netbook was found on the net, which, according to the owner, was also suitable for my model. A bootable flash drive was created and the seven returned safely to its place.
What happened next. I updated the bios on the laptop to the current version with a proprietary utility, and then decided to install ubuntu. According to the instructions from the offsite, a bootable USB flash drive was created. But when you try to boot from it on a black screen, only a blinking cursor. At the same time, win7 from a USB flash drive is loaded remarkably.
What does this mean, how to overcome it?
PS While I'm interrupted by Linux installed wubi.

I didn’t boot Linux from a flash drive if I set the SATA controller in the BIOS as AHCI, not IDE compatible
