Laptop as a workplace for technical support?

Good day!
Interested in the question about the "mobile" technical equipment of a technical support specialist of any company, in terms of technology, one laptop with any distribution kit on the Linux kernel (Mac is not counted).
I will specify: the specialist has a laptop 11-13", it has a distribution kit on the Linux kernel. What will he need to work and upgrade to a system administrator from software?
External hard drives, flash drives (including bootable and with distributions), crimping, connectors etc. we don't count - only software
PS I'd love to read examples from real life, but even simple advice will be useful.

Books, courses and a huge amount of time.
The laptop does not play a role here at all, and the OS also does not matter, virtual machines solve this issue at once.
So knowledge + desire.

It’s impossible to work behind the “11 screen all day long. You’ll get tired in an hour. 13 didn’t go where it didn’t go, but better from 17 FullHD

Useful software on the laptop.
wavemon
tcpdump
arping
mtr
netcat
hping
dig
Note that the software is not a magic wand, but simply tools that will help you study something in more detail, if you don’t know where to look, what to look for, how something that is broken should work, then no software will help.

The desire to receive information and brains to digest it.
