Java philosophy - what's next?
I am finishing Eckel's Java Philosophy.
On the one hand, the book is good, gives a base.
On the other hand, two minuses are visible:
1. The book is clearly outdated. The language has gone further, and the author is in no hurry to finalize his work.
2. In the fourth edition, it is clear that Eckel is a little disappointed in Java. It's not that he criticizes out of place, but there is some grumbling, and very controversial conclusions - for example, about the uselessness of the try mechanism.
In the end, I don't regret buying it. But what to do next? Buy another book (Schildt?) to keep abreast of the latest innovations, or catch up with articles on the net?

" Java. The Next Generation of Development " describes the innovations in Java 7 very well. Similarly, the book that will be published this spring - " Java 8 & 9 in Action " covers the innovations of the 8th and 9th versions .
