Java or kotlin for android app?

Greetings! The question is, I wanted to make an android application, for the time being for a portfolio and studying the material.
But what is the best language to use?
Does it make sense to try kotlin? Or as I read that it will be bent quickly and will not be profitable. You also know that it works without problems with java libraries. Or don't bother and write in java. Also advise which of the useful libraries you use (I collect the most interesting ones for myself). Thanks in advance.

@FreudVans

You exaggerate the knowledge of a particular programming language and the difficulty of learning it.
PL is the basic knowledge of a programmer.
You do not come to ask a question in your voice - what kind of keyboard to study: slim or full-height, 80 keys or 100 keys.
Learn both.
Kotlin seems to be more convenient, etc.
But there are more examples and libraries in Java.
Even if you write in Kotlin, you still have to read Java at least.
