Java. Is it worth it to start?
The question is very trivial, but I'll ask it anyway. I would like to hear the opinion of Java developers and not only.
Is it worth it to start learning Java?
What's in the input:
1. Working with php middle level. Working with yii.
2. Started learning Ruby and Rails. Interesting, easy to understand.
3. Zp 1k. There is a chance when I master the rails to go to 1.5k.
4. A huge interest in something new, more than php (once I thought that php was everything.).
5. Time after work and weekends.
My friends want me to learn Java with them, and even look at it myself. So I'm thinking, relocate to Java or continue to learn the rails.
What I want to get as a result and what I don't want to get:
1. I don't want a salary lower than now being a Java Junir.
2. Big problems with finding a job for a Java junior.
3. Interesting work. Constantly learning something new. Interesting tasks and projects.
4. Demand for yourself and your work.
5. Leve AP himself, interesting knowledge about the language.
6. Respect and honor among fellow developers.
I would be glad to hear any opinion on this matter.

If there is an understanding of the scope of the language, then why not.
If you want to get a good salary (or income), then with the help of PHP it is possible.
And the "bad dancer" is always hindered by something, if you can't build a career (business) using PHP, then nothing will come of Java.
Get familiar with the JVM and learn Scala or Clojure. :) Immediately increase your productivity and change your approach to programming in general :)
