Java and remote work (fulltime) - entry threshold?
Hello.
Interested in the opinion of Java developers with remote work experience - not one-time freelance orders, which are not so many in Java, but full-time, especially with foreign companies. At what MINIMUM level of knowledge and experience can one start trying to find such a job and how best to look for it? It is clear that the steeper the level, the higher the chances, but it is precisely some minimum threshold that interests you, at which you can already try to find. I understand that Java has many areas of application, and the question is quite general, so it is advisable to indicate in the answer which of the areas you have in mind.
Thank you in advance for your response.

A very good question.
My experience: java is basically an enterprise. Therefore, there is less freelance on it, they often sit in the office.
The choice to try to do long-term large projects in java remotely is very correct. I'm at this job right now, it's a thrill. Most likely a web project is better than a swing project.
What you need to know: java core, collections, threads, servlets.
But spring, jsp - they are not on all projects and I personally do not really like them. And the technologies that I don't like die with time)))
You can try to make a project for the customer and ask (beg for) a test task, after that work day and night. If you let anyone down, it's their problem, they want to save money and take risks. Don't cheat, don't be afraid, don't be stupid, think, try.
I didn’t know java at all, I took the task, they copied jdk, javadocs to my disk. And did it in 3 days. This is the first job.
Even if you delay the task, finish it anyway. You can already show it to others. It is also a base that you can improve. If there's anything else you're interested in, get in touch.
First you need to know Java Core very well (most importantly - collections) and know Spring quite well. It would also be nice to know some web framework like Spring MVC, to know what JSP is. Plus - knowledge of Hibernate. With such a set of knowledge, you can be sure that you will find a remote job.
Knowledge of English at least at level B2 is also important.
well, you better do it, first do one thing for yourself. Come up with a task and complete it, otherwise you will let the customer down
I'm afraid you will not be able to complete the work on time, you'd better look for where to go for an internship (work for food)
Help learning Titanic work.
Do you have programming experience in other languages?
Didn't find what you were looking for?
