Issue with Ubuntu 11.10 on VMWare

I was on the Ubuntu 11.04 virtual machine, updated to 11.10, but after the second reboot, the video fell off, i.e. after downloading, it should prompt the user to choose, but instead the color bars blink, and darkness, no more reaction, only a black screen. There is access to the terminal, I tried to boot via rekoveri to the terminal, and then startx - there is also a problem.
Who faced how to treat?

It looks like VMWare itself isn't ready to upgrade yet. Judging by the messages in communities VMWare , ubuntu falls out with kernel 2.6.39 and higher. Perhaps the error was fixed in the new Workstation 8th version, but I won’t say for sure.
Of course, you were a little too hasty with the upgrade to 11.10 Beta2. Most likely, after the official release of 11.10 (scheduled on October 13), a patch will be released for both the old version of Workstation and Player.

replace the driver with vesa
in the /etc/X11/xorg.conf file
Find the Device section
in the Driver parameter and write vesa in the Driver parameter The

I recently downloaded the second beta to see. And I found out that they had already crawled over 3 gnomes. I was already familiar with the 3rd gnome as soon as it officially came out, I sat on it under the virtual machine too.
