Is vue not working or something in node.js.?

webpack

I want to install a standard webpack-simple vue project.
I follow the instructions
$ npm install -g vue
$ npm install -g vue-cli
$ vue init webpack-simple my-project
at this stage it prompts you to enter the project name and description and drops out without creating anything.
What could be the reason?

Looks like a bug in the latest version while
